"Both tears and sweat are salty, but they render a different result. Tears will give you sympathy, sweat will get you change."…By Jesse Jackson
Hi ladies, once a week I will focus on health issues that directly effects and impacts us as women. This should not be used as a substitute to medical advice and intervention that you should seek out from professional doctors.
The health topic this week is self breast exams. Next week, we will explore the risk factors associated with breast cancer. Also, if you or a love one have been diagnosed with cancer, please join us today or next week with your experiences. Self breast exams should be done once a month. Someone suggested as a reminder for us to remember each month when to conduct SBE is to do it the date of your birthday every month. So like me, I would conduct my SBE the 13th of every month. I will outline the essential steps that are needed when conducting a self breast exam. Please consult with your physician or health care profession if you have any questions. Also, if your doctor has taught you or instructed you to perform SBE differently, please follow the instructions that have been given to you by your physician.
Step 1: Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips. Here's what you should look for: breasts that are their usual size, shape, and color. breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortion or swelling. If you see any of the following changes, bring them to your doctor's attention: Dimpling, puckering, or bulging of the skin, a nipple that has changed position or an inverted nipple (pushed inward instead of sticking out), redness, soreness, rash, or swelling.
Step 2: Now, raise your arms and look for the same changes that are outlined in step 1.
Step 3: While you're at the mirror, look for any signs of fluid coming out of one or both nipples (this could be a watery, milky, or yellow fluid or blood).
Step 4: Next, feel your breasts while lying down, using your right hand to feel your left breast and then your left hand to feel your right breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with the first few fingers pads of your hand, keeping the fingers flat and together. Use a circular motion, about the size of a quarter.
Cover the entire breast from top to bottom, side to side – from your collarbone to the top of your abdomen, from your armpit to your cleavage.
Follow a pattern to be sure that you cover the whole breast. You can begin at the nipple, moving in larger and larger circles until you reach the outer edge of the breast. You can also move your fingers up and down vertically, in rows. This up and down approach seems to work best for most women. be sure to feel all the tissue from the front to the back of your breasts: for the skin and tissue just beneath, use light pressure; use medium pressure for tissue in the middle of your breasts; use firm pressure for the deep tissue in the back. When you've reached the deep tissue, you should be able to feel down to your ribcage.
Step 5: Many women find that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery, to they like to do this step in the shower. Cover your entire breast, using the same hand movements described in Step 4.
Okay, ladies ready yourself for some pleasure that you may not of considered before. This monthly SBE can turn into erotic foreplay for you and your mate. Take the time to teach and instruct your partner on the techniques that I have outlined for you. Have him to rediscover your body and the beauty that you possess as a woman. Use the shower as your playground to slippery erotic fun or the candle lit quietness that the two of you can share in the privacy of your bedroom. Allow his hands and mouth to explore you with newness and no inhibitions. This is a time of pleasure as well as a time to ensure that his boo, his baby, his honey, his queen is on top of her health and well being. Well ladies, I can go on and on with this erotic foreplay but I will let you provide some input. Please feel free to comment on any other ideas you may have on techniques concerning SBE.
